 21 students receive a combined $50,000 in scholarships

AUSTIN, Texas—Today, the Austin Board of REALTORS® Foundation awarded 21 local high school seniors and college students a combined $50,000 in higher education scholarships based on academic merit, demonstrated leadership and service and financial need. This includes 16, $2,500 scholarships to high school graduates and five, $2,000 alumni scholarships to previous ABoR Foundation scholarship recipients.

“I take great pride in being part of an organization that invests in the future of Central Texas students,” Nina Seely, 2024 ABoR Foundation chair, said. “The scholarship recipients have shown remarkable dedication and perseverance, truly deserving this recognition. We are grateful for the generosity and dedication of Central Texas REALTORS®, through the ABoR Foundation, numerous students have been given the opportunity to pursue their dreams of higher education.”

The ABoR Foundation has awarded more than 500 scholarships since 1978, totaling nearly $500,000 in the last seven years alone. Recipients must reside within ABoR’s 18-county Central Texas service area and have committed to a Texas university, college or trade school to receive the scholarship.

Funding for the ABoR Foundation Scholarship Program is made possible by the support of more than 20,000 Central Texas REALTORS® and real estate professionals.

“As a 40+ year resident of Austin and currently serving as ABoR president, it’s important to me to give back to the community that has always supported me,” Kent Redding, ABoR president, said. “As real estate professionals and dedicated community members, we understand the significance of fostering the growth of our future leaders. We’re thankful for the dedicated members who contributed their time reviewing applications, as well as to the donors whose generosity enabled the realization of these scholarships.”

  • Wesley Bocanegra – Weiss High School
  • Ashley Cortes Maldonado – New Braunfels High School
  • Selma Davila – East View High School
  • Breck Elliott – Canyon High School
  • Gloria Garcia – Cedar Creek High School
  • Kailani Iannello – Davenport High School
  • Gabriella Ladson – Davenport High School
  • Jadon Lindsay – Canyon High School
  • Luis Martinez – Pflugerville High School
  • Demetrius Pastrano – San Marcos High School
  • Alejandra Ramirez – Bastrop High School
  • Lucy Schulz – Regents School of Austin
  • Katy Snowden – Elgin High School
  • Avery Williams – Bastrop High School
  • Syd Woot – Pflugerville High School

In addition, ABoR Foundation scholarship recipients can reapply for the scholarship as an alumni recipient. Winners of the 2024 ABoR Foundation Alumni Scholarship include:

  • Troy Barnhardt – Texas A&M University
  • Priya Chandrani – Texas A&M University
  • Andi Delacruz – Sam Houston State University
  • Oliver Grabner – Texas A&M University
  • Kaunli Hehr – University of Texas at Austin
